( 1 ) Indian scientist Dr Manda Banerji along with Cambridge researchers discovered giant super-massive black holes.
( 2 ) French scientist Serge Haroche of France and  David Wineland of the US win Nobel Physics Prize 2012  for work on quantum information systems.
( 3 ) The report 'Children in India 2012-A Statistical Appraisal', conducted by the Central Statistical Organisation say that crime against children rose up by 24% last year in the country with Uttar Pradesh  (16.6 per cent) topping the list.
