What is Group Discussion ?

In simple words you can call it a group activity or an interview process. It is a logical process in selecting the prospective candidates in a comparative perspective.Group Discussion is used at colleges, organisation and management competitions by an interviewer.Through Group discussion an organisation finds out certain specific traits or skill that it desires in its members. In this process the particular group of candidates is given a situation or a topic, a few minutes are given to think on the given topic, and then they are asked to discuss the topic among themselves for 20-25 minutes. It is a very exclusive methodology to screen the candidate's working potential as well as their skills.

Group discussion evaluation is done by the subject experts based on the outcome of the discussion.A long analytical report is prepared by these subject experts about the candidate individual performance and submitted to the given department in making the final result.

It is a process to know you as a person and to find out how well you can fit in their institute, through GD panels of expertise evaluate how can you work as a part of a team. How efficiently you take a decision for the benefit of the organisation, How to deal with the costumer problems in a very short interval of time,How focused you remain in attaining your personal goal given by an organisation, How can you implement your genuine idea's in the organisation development etc. This is the main motto why the banking sector or any management institutes includes GD as an essential section in the selection procedure.

Interview is a challenge which the candidate has to face with his personality. Interview is an opportunity which a clever candidate takes full advantage of. In the interview, it is assessed in what way the candidate has been able to make use of his book-knowledge in practical life or how far he has been able to assimilate all that he has read. Power of discretion and decision is also assessed at the time of interview. To prove ones worth on this touchstone, the candidate has to undergo regular practise for the discipline himself for the occasion. For this, it is desirable for the candidate to be in touch with men of ability and experience.Good luck for your Interview friends :)
